Well, here I go. . .

So right after I did the Lake Geneva Triathlon in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (a very fun yet frustrating local race) and raced a PR for Olympic distance (2:20:30--I'll claim it even though the swim was a bit short), and after a long and wonderful day watching friends do Ironman Wisconsin, I decided to wait in line for 3 hours Monday morning and get a slot for Ironman Wisconsin 2008. For those of you not in the know, Ironman race registration for the next year opens the day after this year's race and closes quite quickly. So I'm in! And as is typically the case for me, I am both excited and terrified.

So it seemed a good day to start a blog to track my progress, or lack thereof, as I begin this journey.

More very soon--stay tuned. And I promise to (mostly) avoid the excruciating details of my training. I'm hoping it might serve as a guide to myself and perhaps others about the training and its relationship to all the other parts of life.
